The Most Delicious Frozen Pizzas, According to Foodies

1. DiGiorno

As the saying goes, “it’s not delivery, it’s DiGiorno!” Although not to be mistaken for a restaurant pie, this freezer favorite is guaranteed to satisfy in a pinch. While DiGiorno may not compete with a fresh-from-the-oven slice from a favorite pizza joint, Buzzfeed says it excels at what it does best. It’s fresh and fluffy, establishing its supremacy for a reason.

Restaurant Clicks hails DiGiorno as a veritable legend in the realm of frozen pizzas, making it an excellent choice for a quick pizza fix. While its flavors may be slightly milder than other options, the classic frozen pizza brand does not disappoint when enjoyed hot out of the oven.

But what makes DiGiorno stand out from the rest? Today says its pillowy crust that rises impressively is what takes the cake…or the pie, in this case. The cheese is also superior, resulting in “ooey-gooey mozzarella strands worthy of an Instagram Reel,” they write.

2. Newman’s Own

If your favorite pizza joint is famed for its delicious thin crust, Newman’s Own is what you’ll want to keep stocked in your freezer. Reviewers across the internet were wowed by the crunch and flavor of the brand’s popular thin crust pizzas. Delish recommends the brand for those desiring a thin and crispy pizza base. They also mention that the crispiness receives unanimous praise from tasters, who appreciated its substantial feel.

According to NY Times, Newman’s Own presents a slightly elevated version of the classic thin-crust style seen in brands like Tombstone and Red Baron. It tastes authentic, unlike other pies that you can tell are mass-produced by a machine.

While delicious, the best part of a Newman’s Own pizza is arguably not the taste but the good done with every purchase. Food Network applauds Newman’s Own for its quick and perfectly crisp crust. The pepperoni, made from real beef and pork without added nitrites, stands out with its generous portion on each slice. They mention that 100 percent of net profits are donated to charities and nonprofits.

3. Red Baron

A nostalgic favorite, Red Baron pizza might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of a delicious frozen pizza. But numerous reviewers agree that this slice is more than worth the price of admission. Today says this brand is all the evidence you need that you don’t need expensive ingredients to make something delicious. They also suggest adding a dash of Tabasco for a little extra spice.

Delish agrees on the nostalgia factor that comes with grabbing a slice of Red Baron. They say it reminds them of the pizza of school cafeterias and birthday parties. They also commend the ratio of sauce to cheese.

But just because it resembles school lunch pizza doesn’t mean it isn’t high quality. In fact, Buzzfeed goes as far as to say it is the closest to New York-style as they come. Now, that’s impressive!

4. Amy’s

For a healthier choice, opt for an Amy’s pizza made with organic ingredients and no GMOs. But while it claims some health benefits, it doesn’t taste like a compromise. Their Four Cheese Pizza features a “combination of mozzarella, Parmesan, Fontina, and provolone,” according to Bon Appetit. “It also contains honey, most likely as a substitute for some sugar in the sauce (although it also contains some sugar, so who knows?), and red wine vinegar.” Delish finds this pie the most flavorful across all the brands they tested due to the impressive cheese quality

Restaurant Clicks does warn that it is on the smaller side compared to competitors in the freezer aisle. But it makes up for it in flavor! How? They say the crust is the perfect chewiness and the sauce is rich. Yum!

5. Tombstone

This pick is another that seems synonymous with pizza parties in elementary school. But believe it or not, this classic stands the test of time with great flavor at a great price. NY Times recommends this brand for the element of nostalgia that comes with it, paired with the inexpensive price point. “This pie screams sleepover pizza—delightful, if not wholesome—and does what it does well,” they add in their review.

While Tombstone offers the basic pepperoni and cheese pies, many reviewers say this is a pizza best enjoyed with plenty of toppings. For something loaded on the topping front, Today swears by their Supreme variety, which is loaded with pepperoni, peppers, olives, and sausage. What more could you ask for?

MSN says to try the Roadhouse Double Down Deluxe flavor. Why? They write: “This pizza is an obvious winner. The pie has a lot of flavors going on, but they all complement each other really well, plus the sauce is on point and the crust is just the right amount of crispy.”

Gee, it happens to be all the pizzas that Walmart carries. Nothing special here. Pick your game up Walmart. Hen

  2. Judy Lesar says:

I have to watch my sodium intake due to kidney issues. Most of these pizza’s portions are over my daily sodium intake. So, I eat California Pizza Kitchen Margherita or 4 Cheese and add fresh toppings.

  3. Nora says:

Personally, I would give the Screamin Sicilian brand the #1 spot. Bessie’s Revenge is the only frozen pizza my picky husband will eat. I like anything and everything except anchovies, and I will get another of theirs for myself, but even their cheese pizza is fantastic. It’s sometimes cheaper to order from one of the pizza joint chains, but I wait for a big sale or BOGO then stock up. We live in the boonies and delivery isn’t an option, so having really good frozen pizza on hand is a must!!

  4. Joey says:

Brew Pub is the best of all of these…hands down!

  5. Grizzz says:

    Lotzza Motzza is the best!!

  6. Mr Bacon says:

Trader Joe’s are better than any of these. They are half-baked upon freezing so maybe that helps. Red Baron is not fit for a dog!

  7. Dougger Richardson says:

Gino’s East frozen pizza Chicago deep dish can be purchased at Safeway why buy JUNK when one can actually have a delicious pizza ???? this ???????? ranking totally GARBAGE ????️????????‍♂️

  8. PizzaDude says:

Newman’s Own? I knew that he made salad dressing, but not frozen pizzas. Red Baron is decent. Tony’s is a good deal for the money. Screamin’ Sicilian is OK, but the crust doesn’t cook very well because it’s too thick. Don’t care for DiGiorno’s pizzas (or commercials).
Suparossa makes a good deep dish, but maybe that’s just a Chicago thing.
My favorite thing to do is to add my own toppings. A good, affordable staple for adding my own toppings is Totino’s. Those used to be 4 for 5 bucks. Perfect for one person. They’ve gotten a little weird, switching to rectangular instead of the classic circle pie shape, and now they cost more, too. An alternative for DIY toppings can be the grocery-store brand. They’re usually on sale and they make a good starting point for extra cheese, vegetables, cut-up sausage, and/or deli pepperoni. Whatever your pleasure!

Brew Pub Lottza Mottza, Heggies, Pizza Corner

  10. NAC says:

WOW!!! People eat pizza at home instead of paying $15+ for a cheese pizza!

No really what are you smoking I’d love some! Want cheap pizza? It’s all about the spices!

I can make a $5.99 pizza taste better then most places because of spices!

  11. Aquarian21 says:

Lottza Mozzta – hearty toppings, you can taste the veggies, and a TON of cheese that melts beautifully. The crust is thin but substantial enough to support to toppings.

  12. D says:

By including Tony’s in this list studyfinds instantly lost credibility on any and all topics going forward.

    1. Monte says:

Couldn’t agree more. Tonys are terrible. I’d rather eat a Totinos Party Pizza!

    2. DandyDan says:

      My thoughts exactly!

  13. Stephen Zacharias says:

    Definitely Home Run.

      1000% FACTS!
I’ve tried them all. Chicago’s Home Run Inn frozen pizzas are better than any other brand in the U. S. and I can’t even get a delivery pizza that is as delicious and cost comparison doesn’t factor in here. Under $8 at most retailers and options for 8 different types of toppings? Why would anyone go for anything else just doesn’t make sense. I’d challenge anyone to prove me wrong. But full disclosure, every single person I’ve ever told about this pizza, and trust me it’s a lot of people, has come back to me and said “You were absolutely right!”

  14. Jason says:

Tombstone or Jack’s both are the deal for frozen! No frozen can beat fresh good pizza!

    1. nelson L richardson says:

Try wild Mike’s best frozen pizza hands down

      1. James says:

Newman’s Stone Fired Pizza imported from Italy is far none the best frozen pizza on the market. To make it even better, i brush the crust with olive oil before baking. The sauce is great, the cheese is fantastic, and it even has basil on it. The best thing is the crust, which is like brink oven restaurant quality( remember to brush it with olive oil before baking so the crust doesn’t become too crunchy. You will love it.

      2. Lyle says:

I agree. Wild Mike’s is my favorite! When I can find it.

    2. Monte says:

Love Jacks pizzas. By far the BEST taste and price!

    3. William Forster says:

      Preach on!

  15. Dave says:

2 of my frozen favs Di Gorno rising crsut, and screaming Sicilian love both of these I only smoke my pizzas on my treager gives frozen pizza a whole new perspective and love how the dough is soft and chewy on a smoker and the sauce meat and chesse are a flavor explosion inside your mouth

    1. Doug Richardson says:

I’m going to try this ????????

  16. JOhn says:

The best frozen pizza by far is Freschetta followed closely by homerun pizza. I can’t say that any frozen pizza is truly excellent, but those two are by far the best.

  17. JVan says:

    Definitely Home Run Inn!

  18. Johnny Twobad says:

I have yet to find a frozen pizza with what I would consider a decent crust. Several have acceptable sauces, pepperoni and/or sausage if that’s your inclination, and okay cheese(s). But none offer a satisfying crust, no matter what this author or others might contend.

    1. James Hamilton Hotvedt says:

Try Newman’s Stone Fired Pizza, imported from italy. Brush the crust with olive oil before baking. You will love it.

    2. Doug Richardson says:

Go to Safeway get Gino’s East frozen pizza from sweet home Chicago deep dish ????????

  19. Konstanty Maligranda says:

I have seen these taste tests and have never seen Tombstone! Tombstone blows all those away!!

    1. Pst says:

      I like Tomstone but
      Digiornos is the best pat

      1. jack says:

tombstone is awesome, but digiornos is all bread and disgusting

  20. Mark A says:

A few years ago, Consumer Reports named Home Run Inn frozen pizza “America’s Best.” Most of the pizzas mentioned in this article this were near the bottom of the Consumer Reports List. The writer apparently has a youthful palate.
