Ok with most of this. The Who in my mind tops Floyd and I would comment that the Eagles should be there.
I as far as live bands go, The Who tops everyone in the 1970s just before losing Keith Moon at the end of that decade. And their Studio work absolutely blows Queen away.. Tommy.. who’s next.. Quadrophenia.. are you kidding me?
I agree with the list of the 5 greatest rock band of all time. They are considered icons in their time of existince. But, take note, they are considered the greatest because of the response and acceptance of their adoring fans by supporting and buying their albums that catapulted their fame and status. No matter what, fans here are the main factors of their being famous and popular.

Just name one Uptempo number that Pink Floyd did that really really Rocks…because I can’t…they really were quite lame in comparison to the other four, and many ither bands, when it actually came to…..Rocking Hard..

Pink Floyd is psyschedelic rock. Notice the word “Rock” in the bame. Obviously it is not rocking hard but Gilmour’s lead guitar is probably some of the best there ever was. The only pretender here is you because you haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about. Dark Side Of The Moon is probably the biggest selling Rock album of all time.

Zeppelin should be #3 & I’d replace Queen & Floyd with The Who & Black Sabbath, but wouldn’t be opposed to their inclusion if it were a Top 10. Having lived through the 70’s, hard not to include Aerosmith in there as well…they were 2nd only to Zep at the time.
To me, the bottom line is simple. How could anyone, let alone a ‘poll’ that did Not include what I personally believe would contain the most knowledge-based individuals on the matter, the artist themselves.
That said, I personally believe that we, the ‘consumer’ for lack of a better term, absolutely have the majority of such a list because, as I have ‘heard’ most of my life,
the ‘customer’ is ‘always’ right. ‘Supposdly’..
All considered, I do believe that narrowing such an inclusive list to a meager ‘5’ is a tad bit humorous. Of course, I, like every and anyone else have my preferences, each artist mentioned is awesome in their own right. However, 5??? Asinine.

The Beatles were not a rock band and neither was Floyd. These two were very talented groups yes, but not as great as Zepplin, Deep Purple, Quo, Cream when it came to rockin your socks off.
Sounds like you “wuzzen’t” there. The Beatles, not a rock band? Give me at least an hour to stop laughing! But I’ll give you kudos for mentioning Status Quo. Saw them twice here in NYC. Easily one of the 2 or 3 greatest live bands I ever saw. They, along with Slade belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

This is a good list of the top five but I personally would take out Led Zeppelin and add in The Eagles. I cannot understand how you can leave out The Eagles . Led Zeppelin only had one stand out song , Stairway To Heaven where as The Eagles had a string of hits maybe more than 10 plus their music is still played and loved up to this day . Plus , Don Henley , Glen Frey , Vince Gill, Randy Meisner and JD Souther all from The Eagles had successful solo careers . Need I say more .

Well I’m @ alost with some of the Band’s on this list for me I feel very few Band’s have evolved with the times especially if these Band’s are still touring…I would have to say what Band’s or Person changed the way the world listened to music …yes Rolling Stones have good songs I like them but they never evolved…if you’re talking about timeless music listen to

The really egregious inclusion is Queen. They do not belong ng in the top 10 of any self respecting list and they are not top 50 for me. The most egregious omission is probably The Beach Boys. But the real travesty here is the list author has bands basically from a 12 year period, and from Great Britain only. How about Buddy Holly and the Crickets, or The Temptations or CCR or The Clash or REM or Nirvana or as others mentioned, The Who or The Kinks or The Doors…..
