Best Supermodels of All Time, Per Fashion Experts

1. Cindy Crawford

Rising to fame in the ’80s and ’90s, Cindy Crawford is perhaps the best supermodel of all time. With an unforgettable, iconic look and one of the most successful careers in the industry, she’ll be hard to beat for the foreseeable future.

Talk about a triple threat! Crawford burst onto the fashion scene with killer looks, business brains, and that now-legendary mole. Money Inc. notes she conquered every major magazine cover and runway worth mentioning – not bad for someone who almost became a chemical engineer!

While the ’90s fashion world was obsessing over waif-like figures, the Independent says Crawford’s gorgeous curves helped her dominate both worlds – booking massive commercial deals with Revlon and Pepsi while still strutting for luxury powerhouses like Chanel and Versace. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!

But here’s where it gets really interesting – Money Inc. points out that Crawford wasn’t just another pretty face. Besides those strong brows and athletic physique, she packed some serious entrepreneurial punch. She revolutionized the celebrity fitness world with her “Shape Your Body” workout series, turning those famous curves into serious cash. Who says you can’t be beautiful AND brilliant?

2. Gisele Bündchen

Meet Gisele Bündchen, the Brazilian bombshell who completely transformed the modeling industry! According to The Outlet, she single-handedly ended the “heroin chic” era in 1999, replacing it with her signature bronzed, curvy aesthetic that would define the 2000s.

This powerhouse has graced over 1,000 magazine covers and earned her wings as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, but Insider reminds us she’s also dominated the financial game, becoming one of the highest-paid models of her era. Fun fact from Ranker: she even created her own runway walk – the “horse walk,” where models stomp down the catwalk with high knees and kicked-out feet.

But there’s more to Bündchen than just striking poses. She’s leveraged her success into multiple merchandising partnerships and devoted herself to environmental causes, serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme. By 2007, Ranker says she had become the 16th richest woman in entertainment. Not too shabby for a girl from Brazil, right?

3. Kate Moss

Kate Moss wasn’t your typical supermodel – at just 5’6″, she completely flipped the industry on its head. Insider notes how her unique look sparked a seismic shift in fashion, making her one of the most recognizable faces in the business after being discovered at age 14 on a family vacation.

The Independent says Moss’s razor-thin frame and signature attitude pioneered the ’90s grunge aesthetic, proving staying power isn’t about fitting the mold. This rebel with a cause went from runway sensation to style icon, keeping the fashion world captivated with her mysterious allure.

Here’s the kicker – Marie Claire calls her “the ultimate muse,” inspiring everything from an 18-carat gold statue in the British Museum worth £1.5m (the largest gold statue since Ancient Egypt!) to a £3.9 million Lucian Freud painting. From British Vogue contributing editor to launching her own clothing line, Moss lets her influence do all the talking.

4. Naomi Campbell

Born in London, this model rose to fame in her teenage years and has been called the “Queen of the Catwalk.” She was the first Black model to land covers of British and French Vogue magazines, and she’s gained a reputation for having a strong personality. She burst onto the scene as a teenage dynamo, landing the cover of Elle before sweet sixteen. Money Inc. reminds us she’s more than just her famous temper – she’s one of the original ’90s supermodels who helped define an era, gracing over 500 magazine covers and building a $60 million empire.

Talk about a renaissance woman! The Outlet notes this former aspiring dancer tried it all: runway strutting, magazine covers, fragrance lines, and even a (let’s be honest, not-so-chart-topping) music career. As one of the first successful Black supermodels, she blazed trails while conquering catwalks.

From reality TV shows like “The Face” to acting gigs in “Empire” and “American Horror Story: Hotel,” Ranker points out she’s proven her staying power far beyond the runway. Add in four books and extensive charity work, and you’ve got a supermodel who’s redefined what it means to be more than just a pretty face.

5. Linda Evangelista

Linda Evangelista didn’t just dominate fashion – she redefined it. As Insider notes, this Canadian powerhouse graced over 700 magazine covers, but it was her chameleon-like ability to transform that made her legendary.

Remember that iconic “$10,000 a day” quote? She once famously said she wouldn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day. The Outlet tells us this was pure Linda – bold, unapologetic, and trend-setting. Case in point: her 1988 pixie cut sparked such a frenzy it became known as “The Evangelista,” proving she could make headlines just by switching up her hair.

The Independent reminds us why she’s still a household name today: those striking looks, fierce determination, and headline-grabbing attitude made her more than just another pretty face. From her early days in 1984 New York to her status as one of the original supermodels, Evangelista mastered the art of reinvention while staying totally, unmistakably herself.

  1. Derek Smith says:

    Kathy Ireland and Christie Brinkley.

  2. J Jones says:

Thankfully, beauty is still in the eye of the beholder. A few of them wouldn’t be my choice, but these are all stylish and attractive women who excel in this competitive career path. And since I’ve long followed fashion, I can also say they can all strut down any runway like a queen which is, I imagine, the goal of the ratings.

  3. Davo says:

Christie Brinkley blew them all away.

    1. Lisa says:

      Yes. Beyond gorgeous Christie

Soon as I saw Giselle number two I stopped reading… what a joke.
And of course they had to have some equity and affirmative action and include Naomi who’s not even attractive…. more woke crap

    1. Dude says:

I don’t get it, Jim, you should elaborate your strong feelings.

    2. Kelly says:

I’m sure you’re quite the prize yourself, huh? Lol

  12. Mark Isthaman says:

Maybe Cindy Crawford makes my top 5. The rest of these girls are not in my top 20. Having said that, at least they are all attractive and in healthy shape, unlike the ugly heifers that are considered “models” these days.

    1. Lisa says:

Agree. Too much adulation going out these days that glorify obesity.

  13. Mister Ell says:

    Fashion changes…
    Cheryl Tiegs… Christie Brinkley… But no…

    Margaux Hemingway FULL STOP

  14. D. Fokey says:

Did not agree with Tom Brady’s ex-wife being this list. The ugliness inside her makes her ugly on the out side!

  15. Marianne Reynolds says:

What about Jean Shrimpton? These you mentioned don’t hold a candle! She was the biggest top model of the 1960’s England swings!

    1. Carolyn C says:

I completely agree! Jean Shrimpton should be Number One. These folks have short memories, it seems! They’re missing a couple of generations of supermodels, including Suzy Parker, Cheryl Tiegs, Naomi Sims, Cybill Shepherd, Beverly Johnson and Christie Brinkley.

  16. JW says:

Meh. Not a single asian lady in there. You can find a hundred far prettier girls than this during your first 10 minutes at The SM Mega Mall in Manilla or Cebu. And a lot of them make good wives too.

    1. Dude says:

It’s super models, most likely based on income. I could be wrong.

    2. Kelly says:

Not everyone wants to be a wife.,marriage sucks anyway.,

  17. Dave says:

Any list missing Elle McPherson is totally bogus

  18. Oliver Clozoff says:

None of them would make my top 50.

  19. Beverly Disterheft says:

Gisele #1….I don’t think so! Linda E is #1, then you can say Kate M #2 and Cindy #3!

    1. Max McByte says:

      100% Correct!
Linda Evangelista, the spectacular chameleon is definitely top of the line!
Have seen photos of her that are absolutely breath taking.
The picture of Linda in this article does not do her justice

  20. Bob says:

Ain’t none of them a prize, I see much better looking women at the mall.

    1. Meade says:

I agree ! These “women” look awfully mannish and angular too.

      1. Marie says:

I agree. Heck, I’ve seen better looking women waiting for a bus.

    2. Jack says:

I was thinking the exact same thing. Take their 10,000$ makeup job off and let’s see what they look like.

    3. Ed says:

Won’t it be fun to see everyone’s face when they find out they were all men?
