PHILADELPHIA — One of the best ways to beat the summer heat is with an ice cold treat. For ice cream fans, your flavor of choice may say more about you than you think. A new survey finds the most popular flavors reveal many things about a person’s personality.

The poll of 2,000 American adults focuses on chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry lovers. The survey, commissioned by ice cream company Breyer’s, finds the scoop you pick may reveal how sociable you are, your movie tastes, and even when you’ll fall in love!

What your ice cream scoop says about you

Researchers find strawberry lovers are usually the first to find love. On average, strawberry ice cream fans find love at age 24. For vanilla lovers it’s 25, while chocolate fans are a year later at 26. The survey also says strawberry lovers tend to love doing laundry, watching sci-fi movies, and listening to jazz music.

Chocolate lovers are the extroverts of the ice cream eating world. The poll finds they tend to watch a lot of romantic comedies, so maybe it takes longer to find a partner like the ones in their favorite films. Chocolate junkies also usually love pop music, R&B, and rock ‘n roll.

The personalities of vanilla lovers aren’t too “vanilla” after all. They’re pretty risky when it comes to a game of “truth-or-dare” and are more likely to choose dare. Researchers add they like to stay up late at night, like dogs more than cats, and prefer washing dishes to laundry. Overall however, vanilla fans are said to be fairly introverted people.

Chips rather than a cherry on top?

Regardless of flavor, most Americans like to enjoy their ice cream in a cup with a few different toppings. The most popular topping among adults are chocolate chips; over half the poll have them with their dessert. Also making the toppings list are hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream, and caramel.

The survey was conducted by OnePoll.

This is stupid! I like chocolate, and I am an extreme introvert. I like classical music and despise any kind of noise that people choose to call “music”. I hate romantic comedies. In fact I hate all comedies. They’re just STUPID. I have a more sophisticated sense of humor, and I find no humor in people acting stupid or belittling themselves.

Moreover, I hate strawberry ice cream, like science fiction movies, and like a little jazz. I got married when I was 21, and we were married for 52 years.
